Colin Cummings has announced his candidacy for the Astoria City Council, aiming to represent Ward 4. A resident of Astoria for five years, Cummings expressed his deep appreciation for the community and outlined his priorities for local governance in a recent statement.
Cummings emphasized his commitment to Astoria, stating that although he and his family had never visited the city before relocating, they quickly fell in love with its charm. They have actively engaged in community activities, participating in events such as the Scandinavian Heritage Festival and the Astoria Sunday Market. Cummings has also contributed to the local community by serving on the budget committees of both the Astoria School District and Clatsop County 4-H.
In his vision for the city, Cummings highlighted the importance of fostering a supportive environment for local businesses. He pointed to the success of Fort George, an iconic local establishment, as a model for what he hopes to achieve for other enterprises in Astoria. Cummings stated, “I want to see the city work to ensure that kind of success continues for others.”
Cummings identifies himself as a problem solver who enjoys collaborating with a team. He believes that the city’s focus should be on providing essential services, including clean water, safe streets, efficient permitting processes, and well-maintained parks. “I promise to learn fast, ask a ton of questions, and apply my knowledge, energy, and skill to ensuring that Astoria and Ward 4 can be even more successful in the future,” he affirmed.
As the election approaches, Cummings’ campaign aims to resonate with residents who prioritize community engagement and effective governance. His dedication to Astoria and its residents showcases a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all who call this city home. With a focus on collaboration and a proactive approach to problem-solving, Cummings seeks to bring positive change to Ward 4 and the broader Astoria community.
