Coon Rapids Launches Urgent ‘Season of Giving’ Donation Drive

UPDATE: Coon Rapids City Hall has just launched its highly anticipated ‘Season of Giving’ donation drive, aiming to uplift local families in need during the holiday season. Kicking off on November 24 and running through December 15, residents are encouraged to contribute essential items that will directly benefit vulnerable community members.

The donation drive is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at City Hall, located at 11155 Robinson Drive. Collection bins are conveniently placed in the front lobby, allowing easy drop-offs of non-perishable foods, new toys, winter coats, and toiletries. Each donation supports local charities tailored to specific community needs.

Among the charities participating, ACBC Food Shelf urgently requests high-need items such as flour, oil, and baby food. Toys for Joy aims to collect new, unwrapped gifts, particularly for teenagers aged 12-18, including small electronics and gift cards. Alexandra House seeks winter coats and children’s boots, while Granny’s Closet is in need of personal care items like men’s razors and laundry detergent.

In addition to City Hall, donations can also be dropped off at various locations including the Coon Rapids Ice Center, Bunker Hills Golf Club, and all Coon Rapids Fire Stations. These centers are accepting both toys and food, making it easier for the community to participate.

Why This Matters Now: With the holiday season fast approaching, the need for donations is more critical than ever. Each item collected not only brightens the holidays for local families but also addresses their ongoing struggles with everyday necessities. The act of giving fosters community spirit, weaving together the fabric that holds Coon Rapids together.

Residents can find a complete list of suggested donation items on the City of Coon Rapids website. The urgency to act is clear—those who can contribute are encouraged to step up and help make a difference.

The ‘Season of Giving’ is not just a drive; it’s a movement to build a stronger, more compassionate community. Don’t miss this opportunity to lend a helping hand—every donation counts!
