URGENT UPDATE: Four men, including a former deputy and a constable officer, have been charged following a violent bar fight in Guadalupe County, Texas. According to the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO), responding deputies identified Alberto Trujano Jr., Juan Herrera, and Sheriden Murray as key figures in the altercation. Murray, previously a deputy with the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office, was working with the Blanco County Constable Precinct 1 at the time of the incident. Manuel Hernandez, another deputy, fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Trujano was arrested on a warrant for parole violation and charged with disorderly conduct—fighting. Herrera, who sustained injuries during the brawl, was taken to a local hospital and later charged with the same offense.
The situation escalated in the following weeks, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants for Murray and Hernandez on November 19 and 20. Murray faces charges of unlawful restraint, while Hernandez has been charged with disorderly conduct—fighting.
GCSO reports that Hernandez has been placed on administrative leave throughout the investigation. He was subsequently fired and booked into the Guadalupe County Jail on November 22, 2023. As of now, Murray has not yet been taken into custody for his warrant.
In a statement addressing the incident, Sheriff Joshua Ray emphasized the importance of accountability among law enforcement personnel, stating, “Our personnel will be held to the highest possible standards of conduct and accountability. I will not tolerate any form of unbecoming or criminal behavior from a law enforcement officer—of any agency—and especially from within my own ranks.”
