Gerald R. Cote, Former GE Vice President, Passes at 85

URGENT UPDATE: Gerald R. Cote, a respected former Vice President of the General Electric Company, has passed away at the age of 85. He died on November 12, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of professional achievement and family devotion.

Born on July 21, 1940, in Derry, NH, Cote dedicated over three decades to GE, where he held various management roles across the country. His career culminated in Vice Presidential assignments in Schenectady, NY, and Louisville, KY. Cote’s influence at GE was profound, shaping multiple business sectors and mentoring many throughout his tenure.

Cote’s personal life was equally remarkable. He married the love of his life, Sally, in 1963, and together they enjoyed a rich family life. Jerry was a passionate sports enthusiast, excelling in high school athletics and continuing his love for sports through coaching his late son, Brian, in little league and high school baseball.

Later in life, Cote developed a love for golf, competing and enjoying the game with friends and family. He was also a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, rarely missing a game. His family, including his sons Andrew and Christopher, and two great-grandchildren, Sunday and Archer, were sources of immense joy for him.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no service held for Cote. His family invites those wishing to honor his memory to make contributions to The Foundation for Ellis Hospital, located at 1101 Nott Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.
