Tragic Plane Crash Claims Lives of Father, Daughter on Mission

UPDATE: A devastating plane crash in Coral Springs, Florida, has claimed the lives of Alexander Wurm, 53, and his daughter Serena Wurm, 22. The father-daughter duo was en route to Jamaica for a humanitarian mission related to hurricane relief when their Beechcraft King Air aircraft tragically went down shortly after taking off from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport at approximately 10:14 a.m. on November 10, 2025.

The crash occurred in a residential area, narrowly avoiding nearby homes, and emergency responders arrived just five minutes later. To date, investigators have not reported any additional victims. The National Transportation Safety Board is currently conducting an investigation into the incident.

The Wurm family was deeply involved with the Christian ministry organization Ignite the Fire, which is dedicated to empowering youth through missions across the Caribbean. In a heartfelt statement, the organization described the Wurms as passionate advocates for humanitarian work and their Christian faith. “Together, their final journey embodied selflessness and courage, reminding us of the power of service and love,” the statement read, also noting, “Rest in peace, Alexander and Serena — your light endures in all whose lives you changed.”

The aircraft, manufactured in 1976, was reportedly acquired by Wurm to support his mission efforts. Just days before the crash, he expressed excitement on social media about the plane’s capability to transport essential supplies such as generators and building materials to Jamaica. “I’ve been a pilot since 2005 and I felt that the Ignite ministry should have a missions airplane if it wanted to effectively bless the Caribbean!” he wrote.

The flight tracking website FlightAware indicates that the plane had made four previous trips to Jamaica in the week leading up to the crash, illustrating the urgency of humanitarian needs following the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa, a powerful Category 5 storm that struck Jamaica on October 28, 2025. The storm left a trail of destruction across the Caribbean, prompting immediate relief efforts from local organizations.

As authorities continue to investigate the crash, the Coral Springs Police Department has maintained a significant presence at the crash site. Residents of the Windsor Bay community are grieving the loss while also reflecting on the impact of the Wurms’ humanitarian missions.

Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops. The community and the organization they served are left mourning not just the loss of two dedicated individuals but the light they brought to so many lives.
