Ruth E. Gerardi, 100, Passes Away; Community Mourns Loss

UPDATE: The community of Galway is in mourning following the passing of Ruth E. Gerardi, who died on November 9, 2025, at the age of 100. This beloved figure, known for her dedication to community service and family, leaves behind a legacy of compassion and commitment.

Born on December 2, 1924, in Green Island, New York, Ruth dedicated many years to Trustco Bank in Schenectady. Her deep commitment to her community was evident when she joined the Galway United Methodist Church in 1948, where she served as an officer and choir member. Ruth was instrumental in organizing numerous fundraisers that benefited the church and its outreach programs.

A charter member of the Galway Lioness and an active participant in the Galway Women’s Club, Ruth also held a position on the Saratoga County Aging Advisory Council. Her contributions to local initiatives have made a lasting impact on the community.

Ruth’s family, including her daughter Sharyn Kalinkewicz and goddaughter Pam Neahr, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends, are grieving her loss. She is predeceased by her husband, Arthur Gerardi, and her sister, Shirley Cornell.

Calling hours are scheduled for Wednesday, November 12, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., located at 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. The funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, at the Galway United Methodist Church, 2056 East Street, Galway. Burial will follow at the Galway Village Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Galway United Methodist Church or Galway Emergency Medical Services at their respective addresses. This provides an opportunity for the community to honor Ruth’s memory.
