Branson Girls Volleyball Advances to Finals, Faces Marin Catholic

UPDATE: The Branson School girls volleyball team decisively defeated Redwood in the North Coast Section Open Division semifinal, winning in straight sets: 25-12, 25-17, 25-21. This victory propels them into a highly anticipated rematch against Marin Catholic for the championship, scheduled for 7 p.m. on November 7, 2025.

Branson, the reigning champions, are fueled by the desire to defend their title after a dominant performance at Redwood High School in Larkspur, California. The Bulls (19-7) showed their determination with standout plays, particularly from outside hitter Ella Tsai, who led the team with 14 kills. The team’s strategy involved a diversified attack, with four players contributing significantly to the score.

The win against Redwood marks a crucial redemption for Branson, who suffered a five-set loss to the Giants earlier this season. This semifinal match showcased their improvement and readiness to reclaim their championship status. Branson’s coach, Michelle Brazil, praised her team’s execution, especially highlighting the roles of setters Kate Bianchi and Lily Gross in facilitating effective offensive plays.

Branson stormed out of the gate with early leads, thanks to powerful service runs from Abby King and Blake Cussen. The team quickly established control, leaving Redwood struggling to keep pace. Branson’s libero, Lucy Tusher, noted the impact of their recent gameplay: “Not being on the court is a big thing,” she stated, emphasizing the importance of momentum.

In the third set, despite Redwood’s efforts to rally back, Branson maintained composure. After a tense exchange, the Bulls clinched the match with a decisive block from King and a final kill by Tsai, sending them back to the Open Division finals.

As Saturday approaches, all eyes will be on the rematch against Marin Catholic (25-6), a team Branson faced twice previously this season. The stakes are high, and both teams are eager to prove themselves. Branson defeated Marin Catholic in their regular-season meeting on October 17, but the Wildcats retaliated in the MCAL semifinal match on October 22.

Fans can expect an electrifying atmosphere as Branson aims to defend their title and solidify their legacy in the North Coast Section Open Division. The excitement is palpable as the Bulls prepare to give it their all against Marin Catholic and reclaim their championship title. Stay tuned for what promises to be an unforgettable showdown!
