Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation will host its annual Urology Research and Education Symposium on November 13, 2025, at the Edgewood Country Club in River Vale, New Jersey. This year’s event will pay tribute to former New York Giants linebacker and Pro Football Hall of Famer Harry Carson. Proceeds from the symposium will directly support urologic research, education, and innovation within the Department of Urology at Hackensack Meridian Hackensack University Medical Center.
Dr. Michael Stifelman, Chair of the Department of Urology, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “Our annual Urology Research and Education Symposium is an event that I truly look forward to every year.” He emphasized the department’s high ranking, noting that it was recognized as the top urology program in New Jersey by U.S. News & World Report this year. Dr. Stifelman highlighted the importance of the symposium in showcasing the dedication and talent of the physicians and team members involved in urologic care.
The symposium will feature a cocktail reception and dinner alongside a technology exhibition. A panel discussion will be led by Dr. Stifelman, featuring insights from fellow specialists including Mutahar Ahmed, Debra Lynn Fromer, Laurence Hou, and Richard N. Schlussel. The gathering aims to bring together care teams, patients, and supporters who contribute significantly to advancements in urologic patient care.
According to Richard Knupp, Vice President of Development at Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation, “Philanthropy drives innovation, and we have witnessed it transform patient care, especially in the Department of Urology.” He added that the symposium serves as a platform to unite all stakeholders who impact the delivery of world-class urologic care.
Funds raised during this year’s symposium will also support the Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation’s Be The Difference campaign, launched in September 2024. This initiative focuses on enhancing patient care, accelerating research, ensuring access to healthcare, and revolutionizing medical education, particularly in nursing. The campaign aims to reshape healthcare delivery for the diverse communities served by Hackensack Meridian Health.
The 2025 Urology Research and Education Symposium is sponsored by Lexion, the Winifred M. & George P. Pitkin Foundation, and Procept BioRobotics. Those interested in participating or sponsoring the event can visit GiveHMH.org/HUMCUrology for more information.
