Nor’easter Hits New Jersey Midweek: Rain, Wind, Erosion Warning

URGENT UPDATE: A powerful nor’easter is set to impact New Jersey starting Wednesday, bringing a dangerous mix of wind, rain, and significant beach erosion. The National Weather Service has warned residents to prepare for hazardous conditions that may last through the weekend.

The storm is expected to develop late Wednesday night, with the brunt of the winds and rain hitting from Thursday night onward. Authorities caution that the coastal areas, already vulnerable from recent storms, could face severe beach erosion and coastal flooding due to gale-force winds.

Residents should be aware that this system may disrupt Halloween festivities on Friday night. “Given the onshore flow, sensitive coastal communities may experience strong winds and flooding,” the National Weather Service stated. As the storm approaches, gusty winds could persist through Saturday, posing risks for outdoor activities.

Before the storm hits, New Jersey will experience a brief cool spell. Tonight, temperatures are expected to drop significantly, with frost advisories in effect until 9 a.m. Monday for several counties, including Atlantic, Burlington, and Camden. Lows will range from around freezing in the northern interior to the low 40s along the coast.

As we head into Tuesday, cloudy skies will dominate, with highs remaining in the 50s. No precipitation is expected until the storm arrives, although some coastal areas may see light rain late Tuesday.

Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and stay informed through official channels as the nor’easter approaches.
