Holy Family Haven Opens 72 Affordable Apartments in Clarkston

BREAKING: A groundbreaking new housing initiative has just launched in Clarkston, with the opening of Holy Family Haven, featuring 72 affordable housing units. The grand opening, celebrated earlier today, was marked by a unique collaboration with students from Holy Family Catholic School, whose artwork and ideas inspired the name of the complex.
Jonathan Mallahan, executive director of Catholic Charities Housing, confirmed that half of the units are already occupied, with additional families set to move in shortly. “It was so nice to have all of the Holy Family students there to celebrate the grand opening,” Mallahan stated at the ceremony, which also included city leaders and community members.
The ceremony was held at 1411 Port Drive, where a priest blessed the new apartments. Mayor Monika Lawrence praised the project, saying, “John Pilcher, executive director of Horizon Housing Alliance, promised Clarkston a top-notch housing project, and he really delivered.”
Notably, 30% of the units remain available, with families qualifying for these apartments encouraged to contact Catholic Charities for application details. “It’s not just a place to live,” Mallahan emphasized. “It’s a foundation for families to make lasting changes in their lives and achieve their goals.”
Holy Family Haven is not merely a shelter; it is designed as a vibrant community. The complex will support families earning between 30% to 60% of the area median income, with 35 units specifically reserved for individuals who have experienced homelessness.
KeyBank Community Development Lending & Investment has provided $31.4 million in capital for this significant project. As part of its comprehensive approach, Catholic Charities will offer various support services, including mental health counseling, substance abuse recovery assistance, transportation to medical appointments, senior support, and employment aid.
Fresh, healthy food distribution is also an integral component of the services provided. For families interested in applying for these apartments, applications can be submitted at housing.cceasternwa.org/how-to-apply.
This initiative marks a crucial step in addressing affordable housing needs in Clarkston, bringing hope and stability to families striving for better lives. As the community watches closely, the ripple effects of Holy Family Haven’s opening are likely to be felt far beyond its walls.
