UPDATE: In a shocking turn of events, police have confirmed that remains found in Germantown are linked to missing woman Kada Scott. The discovery was made behind a vacant school near Awbury Arboretum on Saturday, October 14, 2023, following a targeted search initiated by a very specific anonymous tip that came in overnight.

Authorities began combing the area around 10 a.m. on Saturday, leading to the grim discovery of what appears to be a female body in a shallow grave within a heavily wooded section. First Deputy Commissioner John Stanford stated that the remains have been handed over to the medical examiner’s office for identification. “We have been in communication with her family regarding this process,” Stanford emphasized.

Surveillance footage linked to the case was also recovered from a nearby recreation center, providing further evidence in the ongoing investigation. The search for Scott intensified after police arrested Keon King, aged 21, who has been charged with kidnapping and other offenses related to Scott’s disappearance. He is currently being held on $2.5 million bail.

Investigators believe that King was the last person to be in contact with Scott before she vanished on the night of October 4, after leaving her job at an assisted living facility in Chestnut Hill. Eyewitnesses reported that Scott had expressed concerns about being harassed prior to her disappearance, but it remains unclear if King was involved in this harassment.

In an alarming twist, sources indicate that police had previously discovered physical evidence during a search on Wednesday, including Scott’s debit card and a phone case. Stanford urged the community to continue providing any tips that could assist in the investigation by calling 215-686-TIPS (8477).

King’s criminal history adds another layer of urgency to this case. He faces charges in a prior incident involving another woman who reportedly survived a violent kidnapping earlier this year. Although charges in that case were initially dropped, they are now set to be refiled, raising questions about why King was out on bail during the current investigation.

District Attorney Larry Krasner addressed these concerns during a recent news conference, stating that his office could have handled the situation better. “The reason [the victim] had to worry he was going to come out of the same door they went in the courthouse right after they testified against him is because he was on bail,” Krasner lamented.

The investigation continues as police work to piece together the timeline and relationship between Scott and King. Authorities are calling for the public’s assistance in bringing more information to light, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in solving this harrowing case.

As this story unfolds, updates will be provided on the investigation and the search for justice for Kada Scott. The urgency of the situation cannot be overstated—every piece of information could be crucial.

Stay tuned for the latest developments as we follow this tragic case closely.
