UPDATE: A routine traffic stop in Chino Hills has led to a significant drug bust, resulting in the arrest of three local residents on narcotics charges. The incident unfolded on October 16, 2023, when deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department pulled over a vehicle at the intersection of Rolling Ridge Lane and Glen Ridge for suspected traffic violations.

During the stop, deputies discovered that the vehicle’s occupants, Michael Aguilar and Tanya Camacho, were in possession of methamphetamine. The situation escalated as authorities initiated a further investigation, leading them to a nearby residence on Laguna Court. Inside, they found Camacho’s children under the care of their grandmother, Mary Rodriguez, who was found to have outstanding warrants for narcotics-related offenses.

As Aguilar was being taken into custody, he was again found with methamphetamine and paraphernalia indicative of drug sales. A subsequent search warrant executed at Rodriguez’s residence revealed more methamphetamine and various drug-related items. Rodriguez, who has a history of prior convictions, was arrested under Proposition 36, which carries the potential for enhanced sentencing under current laws.

Aguilar faces charges under Health & Safety Code HS11378, while Camacho has been booked on HS11377. The two were transported to the West Valley Detention Center following their arrest. Meanwhile, the children were left in Rodriguez’s care during the investigation, highlighting the severe implications of substance abuse on family dynamics.

The Chino Hills Police Department is urging the public to provide any additional information related to this case. Anonymity is assured for those who reach out via the We-Tip Hotline or the associated website.

This unfolding situation serves as a stark reminder of the growing challenges of substance misuse in communities. Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops.
