Urgent Police Activity in Great Bend: Multiple Incidents Reported

UPDATE: Great Bend Police Department (GBPD) reports a series of urgent incidents across the city on March 11 and 12, 2026, including theft, battery, and shots fired. These events have raised significant concerns among residents as authorities respond to multiple civil service calls.

At 9:25 a.m. on March 11, police responded to a theft at Sunflower Estates, located at 5501 9th St., Lot 43. Just under an hour later, at 10:14 a.m., a battery was reported at Azria Health Great Bend at 1560 K-96. A concerning series of events continued with a reported sex offense at 10:34 a.m. and criminal threats noted at 11:30 a.m. on 1400 8th St..

The police were busy throughout the day, with reports of fraud at 12:31 p.m. near 3124 28th St. and another narcotics violation at 3:31 p.m.. A non-injury crash occurred at 5:33 p.m. outside Braum’s at 4209 10th St., followed by additional fraud reported at 6:21 p.m. at Walmart, 3503 10th St.. The day concluded with a subject removal request at 10:35 p.m. at Love’s Country Store, 1221 10th St..

The following day, March 12, police received another call for a subject removal at 3:22 a.m. at The University of Kansas Health System, 514 Cleveland St.. The subject left without incident. A warrant arrest took place at 9:52 a.m. at 1806 12th St., followed by a domestic incident reported at 11:58 a.m. at 2107 25th St..

Tragically, shots were fired at 7:28 p.m. on 3322 24th St., prompting a search warrant executed shortly after at 11:02 p.m.. Residents are on high alert as these incidents unfold, highlighting increasing safety concerns in the area.

In parallel, the Barton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) was active with 20 civil service calls on March 11. Among these, a warrant arrest was made at 6:17 a.m. while en route to Texas, and another took place at 12:49 p.m. at the Barton County Detention Center, 1408 Kansas Ave., Great Bend.

As of March 12, BCSO reported 18 civil service calls, including a non-injury crash at 12:13 p.m. on W. U.S. 56 and SW 30 Ave. and an injury crash at 7:17 p.m. at 5010 Broadway, Albert.

The Barton County Jail has seen several bookings, including individuals like Jacque D. Martinez and David Lomas, both held on failure to appear warrants. Bivins was booked for violation of the Offender Registration Act, with a bond set at $40,000.
