Community Mourns Loss of Susanne Rhoads Stelzner at 66

Susanne Rhoads Stelzner, a cherished member of the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff communities, passed away on February 4, 2026, at the age of 66 after a long battle with breast cancer. Her life was marked by resilience and an unwavering spirit, qualities that she shared with those around her.

Born in Montclair, New Jersey, Susanne moved to Lake Forest with her family in 1960. She attended Lake Forest High School, graduating in 1977, before earning a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Hillsdale College in 1981. Following her education, she began her career in marketing with Jim Beam, but her passion for design eventually led her to work with Showhomes in San Diego, California.
