Teddi Mellencamp Reflects on Year Since Life-Changing Surgery

Teddi Mellencamp commemorated the first anniversary of her brain surgery with an emotional message shared on Instagram. The alumna of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” took to social media on Monday to express her deep gratitude while reflecting on this significant milestone in her life.

“A year ago today I went into the ER thinking I had migraines and within 24 hours was having surgery on the plum-sized stage 4 tumors on my brain,” Mellencamp shared alongside a photo from her hospital stay. Her post conveyed mixed emotions, stating, “I have a lot of anxiety surrounding today but also a lot of gratitude. Gratitude for the doctors and nurses who took care of me, gratitude for my family and friends for supporting me, and gratitude for all the love that you have poured into me.” She concluded her poignant message with a call to action: “Trust your instincts. Get checked ❤️.”

Mellencamp, 44, received an outpouring of support in the comments section, including a heartfelt message from fellow “RHOBH” star Kyle Richards, who commended Mellencamp’s resilience. The reality star disclosed her diagnosis of stage 2 melanoma in October 2022, undergoing over a dozen surgeries, including the critical emergency procedure in February 2025.

In another update shared in October 2025, Mellencamp announced that her stage 4 cancer was “gone,” but she clarified that she is not yet considered to be “in remission.” She began immunotherapy, a challenging treatment that her estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, noted has taken a toll on her mental health. He described Mellencamp’s struggle as “one of the toughest ones” she has faced since her diagnosis.

In recent discussions, Mellencamp opened up about her emotional health. Last month, she revealed on her podcast, “Two Ts in a Pod,” that she has been using therapy to navigate the complexities of her cancer journey. She addressed the emotional impact of her emergency surgery, the challenges of being away from her children, and her divorce from Arroyave after 13 years of marriage. The estranged couple shares three children: daughter Slate, 13, son Cruz, 11, and daughter Dove, 5.

During an appearance on Page Six’s “Virtual Real-Tea,” Mellencamp provided an update on her mental health. “I think physically I’m in a good place,” she stated. “What we don’t often talk about when it comes to cancer is how you feel after all of the surgeries and all of the testing. How your mental state is doing—that has been suffering.” She emphasized her commitment to finding peace, happiness, and ultimately, herself again as she continues her recovery journey.

Mellencamp’s candid reflections serve as a reminder of the profound impact of health challenges on both physical and mental well-being, highlighting the importance of support systems and personal resilience in the face of adversity.
