Lorraine F. Lease, 94, Passes Away at St. Luke’s Hospice

URGENT UPDATE: Lorraine F. Lease, aged 94, of Moravian Village in Bethlehem, has passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospice on January 9, 2026. The community mourns the loss of this beloved educator and volunteer, who dedicated her life to service and enriching the lives of others.

Born on December 11, 1931, in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Lorraine was the wife of the late George M. Lease, who died on February 22, 2003. After graduating from Liberty High School, she earned her teaching degree from Kutztown University and a Master’s in Education from Lehigh University. Lorraine made a significant impact during her over 30 years of teaching, with 20 years dedicated to the Bethlehem Area School District.

Following her retirement, Lorraine enjoyed a vibrant life filled with travel, tennis, golf, and skiing. A passionate reader and crossword enthusiast, she was also known for her joyful participation in the Moravian Village chorus and her love for social gatherings.

Lorraine was deeply committed to her community, volunteering for organizations such as Meals on Wheels, the Allentown Art Museum, Cops n’ Kids, and the New Bethany soup kitchen. Her faith was central to her life as a long-time member of Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem.

She is survived by her sisters, Althea Lazun of Bethlehem, PA, and Joyce Hess (Howard) of Hempstead, NC, as well as stepdaughters Joan Johnson of Gainesville, GA, and Susan Baier of Snowflake, AZ. Lorraine leaves behind six step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, six step-great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is scheduled for March 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Central Moravian Chapel. A private family inurnment will follow at a later date at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
