Missouri Celebrates School Choice with Capitol Event on January 28

Students, educators, and families will gather at the Missouri Capitol on January 28, 2026, to celebrate the impact of school choice in the state. Governor Mike Kehoe and Treasurer Vivek Malek will join hundreds of participants at this significant event, which aims to raise awareness about the educational options available to Missouri families.

Organized by the Children’s Education Alliance of Missouri (CEAM) in partnership with the National School Choice Awareness Foundation (NSCAF), the event aligns with National School Choice Week, running from January 25 to 31. The celebration will take place from 11:45 AM to 1:00 PM in the Rotunda on the first floor of the Missouri Capitol located at 201 West Capitol Ave, Jefferson City, MO 65101.

This year’s theme, “Freedom to Thrive,” reflects the purpose of the event: to allow community members to hear firsthand from legislators, school leaders, and students about how school choice has shaped their educational experiences. Peter Frazen, Associate Executive Director of CEAM, expressed pride in collaborating with NSCAF to celebrate this initiative.

“Schools, students, teachers, legislators, and business leaders are invited to this year’s Celebration at the Capitol for NSCW,” Frazen stated. “We anticipate remarkable performances by students from across the state, and we encourage families to attend and share their stories with their elected representatives.”

National School Choice Week encompasses over 28,000 events across the United States, designed to empower parents in selecting the best educational environments for their children. The initiative promotes awareness of various educational pathways, including public, charter, magnet, private, online, home, and nontraditional options.

The NSCAF operates as a 501(c)(3)schoolchoiceweek.com/events/missouri-school-choice-rally. The upcoming celebration underscores the commitment of Missouri’s educators and policymakers to foster diverse educational opportunities for all families.
