Florence Launches Inaugural Mayor’s Academy for Community Engagement

The City of Florence has announced the initiation of its first-ever Mayor’s Academy, a civic education program aimed at enhancing community involvement in local governance. This program invites residents, business owners, and community members aged 18 and older to engage directly with local government operations.

Scheduled to take place on Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the academy will run from February 12 through March 19, 2026. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with the Mayor and key leaders from various city departments. This engagement will include tours of city facilities, allowing attendees to gain firsthand insight into the daily workings of the Administration Department and other governmental operations.

The Mayor’s Academy serves as a unique platform for participants to understand how decisions are made and services are delivered within the city. By facilitating direct interaction with city officials, the program aims to foster a greater understanding of local governance among community members.

Applications for the Mayor’s Academy are currently being accepted. Interested individuals can download the application from the city’s official website at www.florence-ky.gov or obtain one in person at the Administration Department located at 8100 Ewing Blvd., Florence, KY. Completed applications should be submitted to Melissa Kramer, the City Clerk and Public Relations Administrator, via email at [email protected] or in person at the Administration Department. Due to limited space, early application is encouraged to secure a spot in this informative program.

For any further inquiries or media requests, Melissa Kramer can be reached at 859-647-8177. The City of Florence looks forward to empowering its residents through this innovative educational initiative, fostering a deeper connection between the community and its local government.
