Dignity Health North State recently announced the successful results of its holiday giving initiatives, which included the impactful “Adopt a Senior” program at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff, California. Over the holiday season, 72 seniors in the local area received essential support, ensuring they could celebrate the festivities with joy and dignity.
The “Adopt a Senior” program aims to deliver gifts to seniors in need who might not otherwise receive any during the holidays. According to the local Dignity Health Connected Living website, the initiative is designed to uplift vulnerable members of the community and foster a spirit of giving.
In addition to the senior initiative, St. Elizabeth Community Hospital also contributed to local children’s welfare. The emergency department actively participated in the California Highway Patrol’s “Chips for Kids” toy drive, collecting toys to benefit children throughout Tehama County. Furthermore, the hospital organized a toy drive for the Corning School District, helping at-risk and homeless children and teens in the area.
The hospital’s quality team took additional steps to support families in need. They “adopted” a single mother and her five children, providing them with $800 in gift cards along with new wardrobes, makeup, and toys. These efforts illustrate the hospital’s commitment to serving the community’s most vulnerable members during the holiday season.
Dignity Health’s Connected Living program in Redding also played a crucial role in addressing food insecurity in the region. Following cuts to supplemental nutrition assistance programs, the initiative provided food to approximately 800 individuals in December. This outreach underscores the ongoing commitment to ensuring that local residents have access to essential resources.
Rodger Page, the North State Market President for Dignity Health, emphasized the importance of these community initiatives. “Supporting our local communities is at the heart of everything we do,” he stated. “Our employees don’t just work here – they live here, raise their families here, and embody our mission of spreading humankindness every day. Whether they’re caring for patients at the bedside or volunteering in our communities, their dedication to serving others is an inspiration to us all.”
As the new year approaches, Dignity Health North State looks to continue its outreach and support programs, reinforcing its commitment to the communities it serves and inspiring others to engage in acts of kindness and generosity. The successful holiday initiatives reflect not only the spirit of the season but also a longstanding tradition of compassion and service in the local area.
