Remembering Pamela Erbeck: A Life of Passion and Dedication

Pamela Ann Erbeck, a devoted educator and coach, passed away on November 20, 2025, after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 80 years old. Known for her vibrant spirit and dedication to her family, students, and athletes, Pamela leaves behind a legacy of mentorship and achievement that will be remembered by many.

Born on May 2, 1945, in California, Pamela led a life filled with adventure, travel, and sports. She pursued her passion for education, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from the University of California, Santa Barbara, followed by a Master’s degree in Sports from California State University, Long Beach.

For over 25 years, Pamela shaped the lives of her students at Inglewood High School, where she taught Physical Education, Math, and Spanish. Her enthusiasm for sports was evident as she took on the role of the girls’ volleyball coach. Under her guidance, the team achieved remarkable success, winning multiple CIF championships and fostering a strong sense of teamwork and resilience among the players.

Even after retiring, Pamela continued to embrace her love for travel and adventure. She explored various parts of the United States with friends, creating cherished memories that reflected her joyful spirit.

Pamela is survived by her sister, Linda Herbert; niece, Laurel Tennant; nephew, Mark Herbert; and several grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom she held dear. Her lifelong friend, Kathleen Behen, also remains as a testament to the deep connections she forged throughout her life.

A memorial service to celebrate Pamela’s life will take place at Lighthouse Memorials, Rice Center, in Torrance, at 10:00 AM on January 24. Family, friends, and former students are invited to honor the legacy of a woman whose passion for education and love for life touched countless lives.
