Bradford City Council and the Bradford Board of Health conducted brief reorganizational meetings on January 8, 2024, to appoint officials and define duties for the upcoming year. During these meetings, key leadership positions were filled, streamlining the governance structure for 2026.
New Leadership Roles Confirmed
The Board of Health meeting, lasting approximately two minutes, confirmed Kris Goll as the new president, taking over from the acting role he previously held. Mike Schreiber was also appointed as the health secretary, further solidifying the leadership team.
In the city council meeting, Goll was assigned significant responsibilities, overseeing the fire and ambulance departments, as well as building health, planning, and zoning. Newly elected Councilman Mark Young was designated as the director of parks and public property, expanding his role in local governance.
Appointments Across Various Boards
In addition to leadership roles, several appointments were made to various boards, authorities, and commissions. Colette Roessler was appointed to a five-year term on the Bradford Area Public Library Board. Roy Pedersen also received a five-year term on the Construction and Property Maintenance Appeals Board.
Further appointments include Mateo Mostek for one year and Ron Binder for three years on the Tree Board. The Downtown Bradford Business District Authority welcomed Mackenzie Grubbs, Heather Whittemore, and Sarah Hayden, each receiving five-year terms.
Additional placements included the property and code inspection agency Bureau Veritas to the Historical Architectural Review Board for a five-year term, and Alex Caruso was appointed to a three-year term on the Planning Commission.
Lastly, appointments to the Plumbing Board included Michael Cleveland, Chip Comilla, and John Peterson, each receiving three-year terms. The Redevelopment Authority saw Fred Proper, Roy Pedersen, Terry Lopus, and Tom Riel appointed for five-year terms, while Brad Preston and Terry Lopus were named to the Sanitary Authority and Water Authority, respectively. Karen Costello-Pecht will serve a three-year term on the Zoning Hearing Board.
These appointments mark a significant step in shaping the local governance structure in Bradford, ensuring that experienced individuals are in place to address the needs of the community in 2026 and beyond.
