Senators Goalie Linus Ullmark Takes Leave for Personal Reasons

Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark has taken a leave of absence for personal reasons, as announced by the team on Sunday. The club expressed its full support for Ullmark during this time, with Steve Staios, the Senators’ general manager and president of hockey operations, stating, “Out of respect to Linus, we will not be making any further comments.”

Ullmark’s performance this season includes a record of 14 wins, 8 losses, and 5 overtime losses in 28 games. He currently holds a goals-against average of 2.95 and a save percentage of .881. His most recent game was on Saturday, where he was pulled from the net after conceding four goals on just 14 shots in a 7-5 defeat to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In October 2024, Ullmark signed a four-year, $33 million contract extension, following his trade from the Boston Bruins to the Senators. Throughout his career with the Senators, he has recorded a 39-22-8 record in 72 games, accompanied by an .899 save percentage and a 2.82 goals-against average.

Ullmark is a distinguished player, having previously earned both the Vezina Trophy and the Jennings Trophy after his outstanding performance during the 2022-23 season with the Bruins. That year, he finished with a remarkable 1.89 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage, solidifying his reputation as one of the league’s top goaltenders.

As the Senators navigate this period without Ullmark, the team will focus on their upcoming matches while respecting his need for privacy.
