The Bosque Brewing Company has announced it will permanently close all of its locations following the dismissal of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy case on December 22, 2025. This decision marks a significant closure in the craft beer industry, which has faced a wave of brewery shutdowns in recent years.
In a statement released on its website on December 26, Bosque Brewing confirmed that all public houses would cease operations on December 28, 2025, at 17:00 Mountain Standard Time. The brewery cited overwhelming debt as the primary reason for the dismissal of its bankruptcy case, complicating any potential reorganization efforts.
Impact of Brewery Closures on the Craft Beer Industry
The trend of craft brewery closures has been escalating since 2023, with the Brewers Association reporting over 385 closures that year alone. By mid-2025, more than 250 breweries in the United States had shut down, largely attributed to rising costs of ingredients and labor, declining taproom traffic, and intensified competition in the retail market, according to American Craft Beer.
Bosque Brewing had operated 11 locations across New Mexico before initiating a series of closures, which included the shutdown of its Santa Fe establishments earlier in December. Following these recent decisions, the company will close its remaining locations, which include:
- Bosque North, Bernalillo, NM
- Bosque Cottonwood Public House, Albuquerque, NM
- Bosque Heights Public House, Albuquerque, NM
- Bosque University Public House, Las Cruces, NM
- Bosque Telshor Public House, Las Cruces, NM
The owners expressed gratitude towards the community and their staff in their closing message, stating, “Bosque has been built on community, and we are forever grateful to everyone who supported our taprooms, shared a pint with us, and made our spaces feel like home.”
Future of Bosque Brewing’s Beer
Despite the closure of Bosque Brewing, the brewery’s beer will continue to be available through Marble Brewery in Albuquerque, which will brew and sell some of Bosque’s popular offerings. Some staff members from Bosque Brewing are expected to transition to Marble Brewery as well.
Before its closure, Bosque Brewing offered a diverse selection of beers, including:
- Weekend Trails Southwest Pale Ale
- Riverwalker India Pale Ale
- Jetty Jack American Amber Ale
- Elephants on Parade Wheat Ale with Fruit
- Scotia Scotch Ale
- Beyond the Trees Hard Cider
- Up North Blonde Ale
- Pistol Pete’s 1888 Blonde Ale
- Salt Money Lager with Salt & Lime
Bosque Brewing had initially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on October 6, 2025, seeking to reorganize after expanding its locations in 2024 and moving brewing operations back to New Mexico. The bankruptcy petition listed assets between $1 million and $10 million, with liabilities ranging from $10 million to $50 million, though the company did not specify the reasons for the bankruptcy in its filing.
The recent closures reflect a broader struggle within the craft beer sector, which continues to navigate economic pressures and a competitive landscape. As Bosque Brewing shuts its doors, the industry faces ongoing challenges that could lead to further changes in the craft beer market.
