Tennessee Volunteers Clear Over 77,000 Pounds of Litter NOW!

UPDATE: Tennessee has just announced a remarkable achievement in its 5th Annual No Trash November initiative, with volunteers clearing over 77,000 pounds of litter from roads and waterways across the state. This year’s campaign exceeded its goal of 75,000 pounds, showcasing the power of community action.

In an incredible display of civic pride, 2,470 volunteers participated in 205 cleanup events, gathering 3,596 bags of trash. Governor Bill Lee officially proclaimed November as No Trash November Month, highlighting the importance of litter prevention and community involvement.

Leading the charge, Keep Knoxville Beautiful emerged as a key player, successfully removing 13,971 pounds of litter. The initiative is not just about cleanup; it also integrates educational programs designed to instill a culture of litter prevention throughout the year.

The program actively engages Keep Tennessee Beautiful affiliates, Litter Grant recipients, and youth organizations like the Girl Scouts and Scouts BSA. Young volunteers are rewarded for their efforts—participants can earn the Rocco the Raccoon patch after completing their third cleanup project, incentivizing ongoing participation.

Participants aged 13 and older can join the Trash Masters Rewards program, which allows them to accumulate points for attending cleanup events or completing preventive quizzes. These points can be redeemed for discounts at local businesses or exclusive merchandise, making participation both rewarding and impactful.

As part of its commitment to keeping Tennessee clean, the state’s litter prevention website, NobodyTrashesTennessee.com, serves as a hub for year-round cleanup opportunities and educational resources. This platform allows citizens to stay informed and engaged in litter prevention efforts.

This year’s success not only highlights the community’s dedication to maintaining a clean environment but also emphasizes the importance of proactive measures to combat litter. With the momentum from No Trash November, authorities encourage everyone to continue their efforts beyond this month.
