Gloria “Glo” Ronnau, a beloved matriarch and community figure, passed away at the age of 104, leaving behind a legacy shaped by love, faith, and dedication to family. Born in Los Angeles on 1921 to Henry and Bertha Becnel, Gloria’s life journey began in a city that would witness her growth and contributions over the decades.
Gloria attended Fremont High School and began her career at the Owl Rexall headquarters, where she met her future husband, Don Ronnau. The couple married and built a family founded on the principles of faith and loyalty. Don Ronnau predeceased her in 2007.
A Devoted Family Member
Throughout her life, Gloria was the proud mother of four children: Donny Ronnau, who passed away in 2023; Diane Ronnau, who died in 2022; Ann Sidler (Derald); and Carol Randolph. She was also a cherished grandmother to Jennifer Randolph, Vincent Randolph (Krystal), Chris Randolph, Tracy Sidler (Eric), Aidan, and Ben Osterman. Gloria’s role as a great-grandmother brought her immense joy, with her grandchildren Jackson, Julianna, Jillian, Devin, and Tristan holding special places in her heart.
Known affectionately as “Auntie Glo,” she maintained close relationships with her nieces and nephews, providing love and support that impacted their lives significantly. Gloria became a longtime resident of San Pedro in 1962, contributing to the community through her work in the Los Angeles Unified School District for two decades, primarily at Banning High School and Dodson Middle School.
A Life of Service and Faith
Gloria’s life revolved around her family and the extended loved ones she cared for, creating a nurturing environment filled with warmth and acceptance. She was known as a steady presence, embodying the role of a matriarch whose influence shaped successive generations.
Her faith was not outwardly vocal but instead demonstrated through her humility and generosity. Gloria showed up for others, offering support without seeking recognition, embodying the values she cherished. Living through a century of significant change, she remained steadfast in her principles.

Friends and family will gather to honor Gloria’s life with a visitation on December 21, 2023, from 14:00 to 18:00 at Green Hills Memorial Park, Cove Room, where a Recitation of the Rosary will take place at 16:00. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 on December 22, 2023, at Holy Trinity Church, followed by burial at Green Hills Memorial Park.
