Wiz Khalifa Sentenced to Nine Months in Romanian Prison

Wiz Khalifa, the American rapper known for hits like “See You Again,” has been sentenced to nine months in prison in Romania for drug possession. The ruling came on December 18, 2025, more than a year after he faced charges related to an incident at the Beach, Please! festival in Costinesti in July 2024. According to the Associated Press and Romania’s national news agency, Agerpres, Khalifa was found guilty of possessing 18 grams of cannabis.

The conviction stemmed from allegations that Khalifa consumed the substance on stage during his performance at the festival. Prosecutors from Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) stated that he was discovered with the cannabis and had also smoked a handmade cigarette containing the drug while performing.

Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Thomaz, initially received a fine of $830 from a lower court in Constanta County in April 2025 for “illegal possession of dangerous drugs.” This decision was later appealed by prosecutors who sought a harsher penalty, culminating in his recent prison sentence.

In a previous statement posted on social media, Khalifa expressed remorse for any perceived disrespect towards Romania, insisting, “I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go.” He added, “I’ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time.”

The incident occurred shortly after Khalifa and his girlfriend, Aimee Aguilar, welcomed their first child together. Aguilar shared details of her postpartum experience in a TikTok video shortly after the birth, highlighting the challenges and changes new mothers face.

Khalifa is also a father to a son named Sebastian, aged 12, from his previous marriage to model Amber Rose. The rapper has been open about his parenting style, discussing his approach to attending parent-teacher conferences while under the influence of cannabis. In a January 2024 podcast appearance, he remarked, “I’m pulling up stoned. They expect it,” emphasizing his intent to present an authentic version of himself to the school community.

This legal situation adds a significant chapter to Khalifa’s life, marking a notable intersection of his public persona and personal choices. As he navigates the repercussions of this ruling, fans and observers alike will be watching closely.
