Scottish actor and presenter Alan Cumming has been announced as the host for the upcoming 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards. The prestigious ceremony will take place at the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 22, 2026, celebrating cinematic excellence and the talent behind it.

Cumming, who takes over hosting duties from David Tennant, is celebrated for his diverse career spanning theatre, television, and film. His notable performances include his role in the Tony and Olivier Award-winning production of Cabaret and his acclaimed portrayal in the series The Good Wife, which earned him a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor and an Emmy for executive producing. Recently, he has charmed audiences as the host and producer of the U.S. version of The Traitors, earning four Emmys and two Critics’ Choice Awards.

In a statement, Cumming expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “How exciting to be back in the BAFTA fold. This time hosting the EE BAFTA Film Awards, a night like no other when we celebrate and honour creativity and craftsmanship, and also hopefully have a laugh and create some mischief as we do so!”

Emma Baehr, executive director of awards and content at BAFTA, echoed this excitement, stating, “With his sharp wit, warmth and vibrant energy, we are beyond excited that Alan Cumming will be hosting this year’s EE BAFTA Film Awards. As we honor the outstanding talent in film that brings stories to life on screen, we know that Alan will give us an unforgettable night full of laughter, magic, and plenty of surprises, and maybe some extraordinary outfits!”

The EE BAFTA Film Awards will feature 25 competitive categories decided by BAFTA voting members. BAFTA represents the U.K.’s largest film, games, and television voting body, comprised of nearly 14,000 creative practitioners from various sectors of the screen industries.

Voting for the BAFTA Film Awards commenced on December 5, with the longlists set to be revealed on January 9. Nominations will follow on January 27. Additionally, the EE Rising Star Award, the only category voted on by the public, will announce its nominees on January 14, with the winner unveiled during the ceremony on February 22.
