UPDATE: In a decisive vote, Belding Area Schools Superintendent Brent Noskey has received an outstanding annual evaluation score of 99% out of 100%, affirming his strong leadership over the past decade. The evaluation results were confirmed during a school board meeting held on October 23, 2023, where board members unanimously endorsed Noskey’s performance.
Noskey’s evaluation encompassed critical areas such as governance, community relations, and instructional leadership. He earned the highest mark of 3 in four categories, with a score of 2.86 in staff relations. This marks another year of excellence, with the board noting that scores above 85% qualify for the top rating of “effective.”
Board President Terry Boni expressed his satisfaction, stating, “We found Mr. Noskey just as effective as he was before. He did really well.” This consistent high performance is notable, as Boni recalled that Noskey has never received an evaluation score below 92% in his tenure.
Noskey’s leadership has been pivotal in navigating challenges, including a district-wide enrollment decline from 1,875 students in 2016-17 to 1,652 in 2024-25, a decrease of 12% over nine years. Despite these hurdles, he has maintained a solid financial standing, with a general fund balance regularly between 15% and 20% of annual expenditures.
In response to the evaluation, Noskey stated, “I’m obviously pleased with the evaluation. I know the board has some faith in me and supports me.” He emphasized the importance of his administrative team, asserting, “I could not do this job without my administrative team.”
Looking ahead, Noskey remains focused on fostering strong community relations, a hallmark of his leadership style. He is known for his visibility at local events and for cultivating a family-like atmosphere within the district. “There’s something special about Belding,” he remarked, highlighting the community’s supportive culture.
Noskey’s base salary stands at $157,725, with no changes to his contract following this latest evaluation. As Belding Area Schools moves forward, the board and community will be watching closely to see how Noskey continues to lead and inspire success within the district.
With these strong marks, the future looks bright for Belding Area Schools under Noskey’s stewardship. Stay tuned for further updates on his initiatives and the district’s progress.
