BREAKING: The PCM Mustangs girls wrestling team showcased impressive talent at the Woodward-Granger dual tournament on December 1, 2023, finishing with a split record of 2-2. Star wrestler Emma Beyer stood out, finishing the day undefeated with a perfect record of 4-0.
In a series of intense matches, the Mustangs triumphed over North Polk and Clarke, while facing tough losses against host Woodward-Granger and Dallas Center-Grimes. This performance is crucial as the team builds momentum heading into the season.
During their 42-23 victory against Clarke, the Mustangs capitalized on five forfeits while winning just two of the three contested matches. Notably, Hadley Millang and Addison Fry secured their wins by fall at 135 and 115 pounds, respectively.
The Mustangs edged out North Polk by criteria, claiming six forfeit wins. Millang dazzled the crowd with a stunning win at 135 pounds, achieving a pin in just 11 seconds, although the Mustangs struggled with a 1-3 record in contested matches.
In their dual against Woodward-Granger, the Mustangs faced a tough battle, losing 48-28. Despite the loss, Wilkerson secured a quick pin in 17 seconds at 155 pounds, while Beyer earned an 18-7 major decision victory at 170 pounds. Both teams had a similar number of forfeits, with PCM capitalizing through wins by Lily Birkenholtz, Ryan DeVore, and Fry.
The Mustangs faced a challenging matchup against Dallas Center-Grimes, suffering a significant loss of 60-18.
