UPDATE: A Tennessee man faces serious charges after a fatal DUI crash in Montgomery, Alabama, that claimed the life of 54-year-old Frederick Bernard Hill. The incident occurred at approximately 8:07 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the intersection of East Fairview Avenue and Norman Bridge Road.
Cameron Wilhite, 28, is charged with reckless murder following the three-vehicle collision. According to authorities, Wilhite was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee when he collided with a Ford Escape before striking Hill’s Ford Explorer. Hill was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a local hospital.
Test results indicate that Wilhite registered a blood alcohol content level of .15—nearly twice the legal limit—about an hour and a half after the crash. Officers discovered open containers inside his vehicle and reported that Wilhite appeared to be in an “obviously impaired state.”
Following the incident, Wilhite was taken into custody and booked at the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he remains held without bond.
This tragic event underscores the devastating consequences of impaired driving. With DUI incidents continuing to rise, law enforcement officials are reiterating the urgent need for public awareness and responsibility on the roads.
The Montgomery community is now grappling with the loss of Hill, whose life was cut short due to what authorities describe as reckless behavior. As the investigation continues, residents are urged to reflect on the impact of such incidents on families and communities.
Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops and as authorities continue to gather evidence in the case against Wilhite.
