UPDATE: In an inspiring celebration, 28 high school students from across Georgia graduated from the second cohort of Youth LEAD Georgia on November 10, 2025, at Trilith Studios in Fayetteville. This transformative leadership program, facilitated by the University of Georgia’s J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development and Chick-fil-A, marks a significant milestone in youth leadership and civic engagement.
The graduation ceremony highlighted a yearlong journey in leadership development where students traveled statewide, participating in vital leadership sessions and connecting with community leaders. This year’s cohort participated in five intensive meetings, including four regional sessions and a weeklong bus tour, culminating in a summer summit that brought together over 150 youth from different backgrounds.
Thanks to a generous $1.5 million pledge from Chick-fil-A, this program remains accessible to all participants at no cost. This financial support ensures that students from diverse backgrounds can take part in this enriching experience.
Among the graduates is Holden Walton from Valdosta, who not only celebrated his graduation but was also recognized as one of the recipients of the prestigious Bullard Community Champion grants. These grants empower students to implement impactful service projects in their local communities, addressing pressing needs and creating new opportunities.
The program awarded a total of nine grants, funded by Rodney Bullard, CEO of The Same House, and Regions Bank. To qualify, students developed actionable plans in collaboration with community partners to meet local needs.
As the graduates step into leadership roles within their communities, the impact of the Youth LEAD Georgia program will resonate throughout the state, fostering a new generation of engaged citizens ready to make a difference.
Stay tuned for more updates as these young leaders begin their initiatives and continue to shape their communities for the better.
