Renovation Begins for Jamestown Chamber and Tourism Office

A renovation project has commenced at the building housing the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce, Jamestown Tourism, and the Jamestown Motor Vehicle Office. This initiative aims to enhance the functionality of the shared space and is set to continue over the next several months. Construction started in October 2023, with plans for completion within four months.

Temporary Relocation and Continued Services

During the renovation, staff from the chamber and Jamestown Tourism will temporarily move to the lower level of the building. The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will remain operational on the upper floor, ensuring that services to the public continue without interruption. All three organizations will maintain their regular operations, although visitors should be prepared for construction activity and potential delays.

The remodel is designed to create a larger, more functional main-level space for the DMV. The current DMV area will be transformed into an upgraded Visitor and Information Center for Jamestown Tourism, alongside a more inviting shared lobby for the chamber. Additional features of the renovation include new office spaces for staff and an upgrade to an ADA-compliant bathroom.

Community Investment and Future Outlook

Emily Bivens, Executive Director of both the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce and Jamestown Tourism, emphasized the importance of this project for the community. “This renovation is an investment in the people we serve,” she stated. “It will allow us to welcome visitors more effectively, support our members with a better workspace, and give the DMV the room it needs to continue providing efficient service. We are excited for what this means for Jamestown.”

The organizations involved will keep the community updated on the progress of the remodel, ensuring transparency throughout the construction period. This project not only aims to improve the physical space but also reflects a commitment to enhancing the services offered to residents and visitors alike.
