Timothy Andrew McGowan, a respected research analyst and beloved family member, passed away in early 2025 after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was 67 years old. McGowan, originally from Brooklyn, New York, was the third of six children born to James and Joan McGowan, who immigrated from Ireland. His journey through life took him from the streets of Brooklyn to various communities across the United States, culminating in his final years in Encino, California.
Early Life and Career Development
Born in 1957, McGowan spent his formative years in Maywood, New Jersey, after his family relocated in 1966. He attended Our Lady Queen of Peace before the family moved again to California in 1971, settling in the San Fernando Valley the following year. There, he graduated from Chaminade High School, maintaining a strong connection to his alma mater throughout his life.
McGowan began his professional career in 1985 as a research analyst at Columbia Pictures. His dedication and expertise led him to ascend to the position of Vice President of Research at CBS/KCAL-9, where he contributed significantly to the television industry over several decades.
Personal Life and Legacy
In 1986, during a performance at the Showboat Theatre, McGowan met Susan McDermott. The couple married in 1987 and welcomed two sons, Matthew in 1989 and Morgan in 1992. Following their separation, McGowan reconnected with Pamela Meyer, a classmate from Chaminade. Their partnership flourished over more than 15 years, marked by extensive travels around the globe.
In 2010, McGowan returned to his theatrical roots, participating in multiple productions in the Santa Clarita area after a 25-year hiatus. He also pursued academic achievements, earning dual Irish citizenship and completing two Associate of Arts degrees.
Despite facing health challenges, McGowan remained resilient. In 2022, he triumphed over duodenal cancer, but in late 2024, he was diagnosed with leukemia. His passing leaves a significant void in the lives of his loved ones.
McGowan is survived by his life partner, Pam Meyer; his sons, Matthew and Morgan; and his siblings, Terry, Jim, Colleen, and Cathy. His family and friends will remember him fondly, cherishing the memories of a man who touched many lives with his warmth and spirit.
